Dr. Smith is originally from upstate NY and attended Herkimer County Community College and State University of New York at Cortland and received degrees in applied science, speech pathology and audiology. He attended Syracuse University and received a Master in Science in Audiology.
While at Syracuse University Dr. Smith completed internships at Faxton Childrens Hospital in Utica, NY, the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, NY and the Institute for Sensory Research and the Gebbie Clinic at Syracuse University. He completed his clinical fellowship year in pediatric audiology in Charlotte, NC. He worked as chief of audiology at an eye, ear and nose practice and received his Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2001.
He opened the first private audiology practice in Anderson, SC in 2002. Dr. Smith has served as president of the South Carolina Academy of Audiology and was appointed to the South Carolina Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology by both Governor Hodges and Governor Sanford.
He resides in Anderson, SC with his wife Dorothy and two children, Connor and Palmer. He is active in the Boy Scouts of America with both of his children and his outside interests include competitive shooting, music, soccer, writing and watercolor painting .
